Manuka Honey is a special type of honey that is made from the nectar of the flowers found on the Manuka bush (Leptospermum scoparium) which grows wild throughout New Zealand. In addition to hydrogen peroxide, Manuka Honey also contains an additional antibacterial component which has become known as the Unique Manuka Factor or UMF. This secondary antibacterial component has been found to be more effective in clearing infections than the compounds found in ordinary honey .
