Margaret Heitman Collins Inducted into Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Chemical Manufacturing Field

    LELAND, NC, December 7, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Margaret Heitman Collins, President and owner of Glycotech, Inc., has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in chemical plant ownership and operations.

Ms. Collins purchased Glycotech, Inc., a mid-sized chemical plant, in 2008. Her company specializes in developing biofuels from algae, bacteria and cornmeal. It also provides chemical processing and finishing services for renewable products, such as industrial lubricants and polymers. Ms. Collins has been involved in company operations since her initial purchase of the once non operational manufacturing plant, and the land it occupied. She, and a team of highly qualified individuals, have successfully transformed the plant into a thriving business, and have subsequently signed a manufacturing contract with Emeryville, Calif.-based biotech firm Amyris Inc. to provide chemical processing at the plant. Currently, she is responsible for all contracts and contract negotiations having to do with the relationship between Amyris and Glycotech. She also maintains a close relationship with the owners and operators of Amyris in order to assure a high standard of product quality that Amyris' international clients expect. She is proud of her ability to take her core sales and negotiation skills from the real estate world and adapt them to this new business venture.

Prior to serving in this role, Ms. Collins, a North Carolina certified real estate broker, worked for Intracoastal Realty Corp. where she specialized in high-end coastal properties. Over the course of 15 years, she sold a quarter of a billion dollars in real estate, and was named a consistent top agent in Wrightsville Beach for both sales and listings. In 2007, she retired from real estate and decided to embark on this new endeavor with her husband, Eddie Collins, who has also retired from the field of real estate construction.

Ms. Collins earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at North Carolina State University and a paralegal certification in real estate at Meredith College. She is charitably involved with the American Cancer Society and The American Heart Association, as well as being a group member of BASF Worldwide. She attributes her success to her enjoyment of competition, along with the thrill of negotiating a mutually beneficial deal between all parties. In the coming years, she plans to continue in her current capacity.
