Her style, like her work process, varies: she has painted surrealist images, abstracts and landscape acrylics and pastels. Experimenting with different techniques and materials is vital to Marianne's work, and her creative process is ever-evolving. Whatever style she chooses, however, the sensitive arrays of color and form are always present.
Whether the mood is whimsical or contemplative, there is always a thematic richness which speaks of a respect for the visual world that provides her with inspiration. Marianne has said that she paints, therefore she is. This succinct statement reveals a love of the life that is at the heart of Marianne Fernandez's artwork. It also reveals her commitment and her need, two elements which come through when we take in her subtle, lush works.
