Marketing Professional Mark Catlin, Returns to Apple Valley, Minnesota

    APPLE VALLEY, MN, February 07, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Since 2004, Mark Catlin has been living with his wife and two young children in Hayward, Wisconsin, where he has held a variety of marketing positions with Jack Link's Beef Jerky. In fact, during his career with the company, Mark Catlin played a key role in taking this family-owned to nationwide prominence, working to create a new brand identity, redesign the logo and packaging, develop award-winning ad campaigns, launch dozens of innovative new products and drive overall strategy for the brand. Although living in the great north woods of Wisconsin was a wonderful experience for his entire family, Mark Catlin was happy to return home to Apple Valley, in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area, where the company had recently opened a marketing and sales office.

"I was born and raised in Minnesota, and I believe the Twin Cities area is one of the best places to live in the entire country,"says Mark Catlin of Apple Valley, MN. "I truly enjoyed my time in Wisconsin. We made some great friends and I was having a blast building the Jack Link' s brand, but I always knew in the back of my mind that we would come back to the Minneapolis / St. Paul area when the time was right."

Family played a key role for Mark Catlin in his decision to move back to Apple Valley. "My wife Cynthia and I want to do what's best for our family," says Mark Catlin. "The St. Paul suburbs which include Apple Valley, have a lot to offer children, including a great school system, public parks and safe neighborhoods. It's just the sort of environment I'd like my kids to have as they grow."

Mark Catlin has a long history with the Minnesota and the Twin Cities, stretching back to his childhood, where he attended Excelsior Elementary, and then Hopkins Middle and High Schools. After getting his undergraduate degree at the University of Oklahoma, Mark Catlin returned to the Minneapolis / St. Paul area, got married to his college sweetheart, became a dad, and then attended the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management where he obtained his Masters degree in business (MBA) with a focus in Marketing and Strategic Management.

"This is where my brand marketing career really began," he says. "I have such good memories of attending school and landing that first brand marketing job. I'm hoping to make many more happy memories as my wife and I put down new roots in Apple Valley," Mark Catlin says.

Currently, Mark Catlin, is exploring new opportunities and looking to begin the next stage of his CPG marketing career. He's hoping that his job search will end quickly, as he has achieved a strong track record of success and accomplishments, and his skills, background and leadership ability make him a valuable commodity in his field. One recognizable accomplishment for Mark Catlin is the lead role he played in the creation and execution of the Effie award winning "Messin' with Sasquatch" television advertisements for Jack Link's.

"Of course we had no idea those commercials would end up being one of the most successful campaigns ever created for a snack brand," says Mark Catlin. "We took a little bit of a gamble, but it paid off big time. Thanks to the viral nature of these spots, the word of mouth "buzz" they created, and their effectiveness in creating brand impressions with consumers, we were able to parlay a relatively conservative financial investment into a brand-building phenomenon." According to Mark Catlin, brand awareness increased from less than 5% in 2004 to over 65% in 2011.
