-- The Board of Directors announces Marla Wilsons' departure as the National Executive Vice President of Honey Shine, Inc. Since 2014 Wilson has played a critical role in the growth and success of the Honey Shine organization. Her dedication and commitment to the mission of the organization is a true example of her leadership. During her tenure, Wilson had oversight of the organizations operations and was responsible for after-school program expansion in Miami as well as national expansion in cities such as Los Angeles and Dallas, TX. She also increased donor relations by fostering relationships that increased funding year over year by 200+% from 2014 to 2017.
"Marla has been a vital part of the organization's brand elevation and critical growth in the areas of donor cultivation and program expansion. Under her leadership, we have been able to expand our efforts to a national level and, for that, we will be forever thankful and consider Marla a lifelong member of the Honey Shine family," said Sabrina R. During her tenure Marla Wilson successfully increased the organizations donor base and corporate support to establish over $1 million in revenue. The organization saw an increase in program participation among young girls aged 8-18 by 42% and expanded the national platform of the Honey Shine, Inc. brand through increased publicity and marketing initiatives. Wilson also successfully obtained trademarking for the program along with creating copyrights for the curriculum and licensed facilitators for the programs.
From a community perspective, some of Ms. Wilson's greatest achievements were establishing a Community Service Scholarship at Howard University and strengthening partnerships with media networks like BET/Centric to help uplift the organizations' platform to increase national awareness. In efforts to make an impact in the community, Ms. Wilson successfully created 18 new jobs for educators who joined the Honey Shine team to further the mission through in-school programming.
During this transition period, it is the priority of the Honey Shine organization to find the best individual who will continue the trajectory of Ms. Wilson to lead, while still maintaining a stable and effective organization. An Executive Search Committee has been formed to recruit viable candidates for a new Executive Director.

Wilson, a Legacy Consultant, will continue her work as a philanthropic counsel to celebrities, influencers and high wealth individuals who have a desire to form non-profit organizations that will serve the community and leave a legacy to the world.
