ZANESVILLE, OH, October 20, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marlene Jones has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Awarded an Outstanding Elementary Teacher, Ms. Jones dedicated her 35-year career to the young students of Zanesville City Schools as an educator and reading specialist. Motivated by her love for children, she notes that her success was a result of the hunger for knowledge demonstrated by her students, particularly those who felt challenged by reading. "It's an incredible process to watch. Students who were struggling with reading would come to me extremely frustrated and defeated, and by working one-on-one they gained confidence and comprehension skills that they didn't know they could attain," Ms. Jones says, adding that she always felt most gratified by the "lightbulb" moment when students realized their own potential. Aside from her work at the elementary school, Ms. Jones co-authored "Diagnosis for Reading" and "Games for Reading." She also served briefly as a reading instructor at Ohio University and at Muskingum Area Technical College.

To prepare for her career, Ms. Jones earned a Bachelor of Science in education from Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio, in 1962. Later, she attended Ohio University to obtain a Master of Education, which she earned in 1984. Involved in her professional and local communities, she is active in organizations, including the American Legion Auxiliary, the Salvation Army, the Y-City Women's Club, the Zanesville Women's Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Ohio Retired Teachers Association, the Muskingum County Retired Teachers Association, the Zanesville Art Center, the National Association of Professional Women, the National Women's History Museum, and the Ladies Aid Trinity. She has been recognized nationally for her work by Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the Midwest, and Who's Who of American Women.

Looking to the future, Ms. Jones intends to enjoy her retirement while still remaining active in her local community.
