Accomplished artist Bonnie Casey was honored with the Arizona Commission on the Arts' Artist award

A highlight of her career found her presiding over a (Channel 13) Public TV program called the "Art of Sharing and the Sharing of Art."

CHINO VALLEY, AZ, January 25, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bonnie M. Casey has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Casey showed the promise of artistic ability at a young age. Her grade school teacher saw her potential come to fruition when she was awarded a youth scholarship to the Art Institute of Chicago. Years later, in a chance encounter, she met artist Joe Abbrescia, and after a short period of instruction from him, Bonnie joined his teaching staff at the Village Art School in Skokie, Illinois. This was an extraordinary experience as there were 350 students and only 6 instructors. At this time she also opened her own school, The Art Barn, in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.

In 1958 until 1981, she was associated with a community theatre group in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, where she designed back-drops and painted scenery for more than 100 productions.

After fifteen years of teaching and with her husband's retirement, she stopped teaching and entered Harper Junior College for classes in Design and Art History. Bonnie also attended The American Academy of Art in Chicago to work from live models and start a career of interpreting the landscape in an impressionistic style.

In 1984, a move to Arizona started a period of entering her work in galleries (15 in all) while instructing students at Pima College, Tucson, AZ. Bonnie was also asked to demonstrate the art of oil painting at Mountain Artists Guild, Southwestern Artists, The Wickenburg Art Club and The Autumn Art Festival in Halsey, Nebraska, to name a few.

Her travels to Europe (twice) to instruct art classes for Rush Studios of Kentwood, California, found her in Cassis, France with a group of 28 women as they interpreted, with paint, the 9-11 incident in New York as it occurred. Taos, New Mexico, and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, were locations of art workshops for several years.

A highlight of her career found her presiding over a (Channel 13) Public TV program called the "Art of Sharing and the Sharing of Art."

In 2006, Bonnie painted a 35' x 16' mural depicting the history of the Salvation Army on the Chapel wall in Prescott, Arizona.

In 2010 she authored a coloring book titled "Enter My World of Color, A Creative Adventure" with Bonnie Casey. It can be found in the Peregrine Book Store in Prescott, Arizona.

In recognition of her abilities, the Prescott Fine Arts Association named her Curator of the Year and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America named her Artist of the Year. She was the recipient of the Grumbacher Gold Medal in 1991 and 1992 and the Arizona Commission on the Arts' Artist Award in 2013.

Bonnie describes her art as fluid and rhythmic. She has been featured in both solo and group exhibits at the Mitchell Museum in Trinidad, Colorado, the Phippen, Smoki, and Sharlot Hall Museums, and the Grumbacher show in Prescott, Arizona.

Ms. Casey is a member of and contributor to many esteemed art institutions, including the Prescott Corral of Westerners, Sharlot Hall Museum, the Southwestern Artists Association, Oil Painters of America, the Palette & Chisel Art Student League, and the Phippen Museum. She is also an auditor of Prescott Art Docents and a historian for the Western Academy of Women Artists. Ms. Casey's contributions to the art world have earned her inclusion in the book "Finding Your Visual Voice," by Dakota Mitchell, as well as in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of American Women.
