Marquis Who's Who Honors Susan Matorin for Excellence in Social Work & Education

Ms. Matorin teaches behavioral health concepts to medical social work colleagues nationally, and teaches family therapy to psychiatric residents at Cornell



    NEW YORK, NY, August 03, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Susan Matorin has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Matorin was recruited to the Department of Psychiatry Weill Cornell from a career at the New York State Psychiatric Institute and Presbyterian Hospital to direct the Department of Social Work of Payne Whitney Clinic. She held that position and directed the graduate student training program from 1981 to 1997 when the department was reorganized. She subsequently served as a treatment coordinator for the Affective Disorder team, and started the department's first IOP program. As a member of the faculty, she currently divides her time between a clinical practice in ambulatory care for individuals with serious psychiatric disorders, and a private practice for individuals, families and couples. Ms. Matorin teaches behavioral health concepts to medical social work colleagues nationally, and teaches family therapy to psychiatric residents at Cornell.

A graduate of the prestigious Vassar College, Ms. Matorin holds a Bachelor of Arts and a MS from the Columbia School of Social Work where she received the Dean's Award. Her professional affiliations include the American Orthopsychiatry Association, the National Association of Social Workers, and the Society for Social Work Leaders in Health Care, through which she earned the Hyman J. Weiner Award in 2006. She can be seen on the NASW video "Help Starts Here" and serves on the board of the Helen Rehr Center for Social Work Practice. In addition to her professional publications she has had numerous letters on mental health and social work issues published in the New York Times. She has been honored for her accomplishments on many occasions. Since the late 1990s, Ms. Matorin has been featured in the 6th edition of Who's Who in American Education, two editions of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and eight editions of Who's Who of American Women.
