Marquis Who's Who Recognizes Ronald Trent Anderson for Contribution to Art Education

His retrospective exhibit at the University of Wisconsin's Porter Butts Gallery spanned over 50 years

    AMHERST, MA, January 11, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ronald Trent Anderson has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Anderson is a widely recognized art educator who has created award winning paintings, prints, and drawings displayed in exhibits throughout the U.S. and various countries. He studied at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in art education and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Art in 1963. He then embarked on a 38 year career in art education, teaching at Bloom Township High School in suburban Chicago, Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax and the Springfield, Massachusetts Public Schools. In 1998, Mr. Anderson was one of just six art educators nationwide to receive the Marie Walsh Sharpe Fellowship from the National Art Education Association. The following year he was named Massachusetts Art Educator of the Year by the Massachusetts Art Education Association. In 2001 the University of Wisconsin honored him with the School of Education Alumni Achievement Award. Since his retirement in 2001 he has become a photojournalist, chronicling his global adventures which include: trekking in Nepal, ice hiking in Alaska, canyoneering in a Utah slot canyon, and cycling Oregon's coast.

Mr. Anderson has established himself as an artist having been represented in permanent collections of the University of Wisconsin, Dalhousie University, Westfield State College and The Kohler Foundation. He has participated in group shows internationally, including the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Boston Symphony Hall and the International Biennale of Contemporary Art in Florence, Italy. Mr. Anderson held his first solo exhibit in 1965 at the Arts Unlimited Gallery in Milwaukee. His 2006 retrospective exhibit at the University of Wisconsin's Porter Butts Gallery spanned over 50 years, bringing his career full circle as the site of his first professional exhibit in 1959. The exhibit featured stages of his art career including abstract expressionism, representational paintings based upon his photographs, calligraphic paintings containing illegible letters and landscapes inspired by a trip to China. He is the author of Pleasure Of Discovery, 2008, a book featuring the poetry of his late wife, Barbara Groffman Anderson.

Mr. Anderson is a member of the National Art Education Association, the International Platform Association, and The Salmagundi Club of N.Y.C. He has been honored with inclusion in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in the World.
