/24-7PressRelease/ - EDINA, MN, May 21, 2008 - Shaner Hotels has announced that the associates of its Marriott Residence Inn Minneapolis Edina will be volunteering on behalf of Feed My Starving Children, Inc., as part of Marriott International's Spirit to Serve our Communities Day, on May 21st, 2008.
The Spirit to Serve Our Communities Day is a part of Marriott's national Associate Appreciation Week, and is intended to provide an opportunity to recognize associates for the service they provide not only to their customers, but also to the communities in which they do business. Spirit To Serve Our Communities Day gives Marriott associates the opportunity to serve their local communities with their time and talents.
"We are honored that the Edina Marriott Residence Inn chose to partner with Feed My Starving Children for the Spirit to Serve Our Communities event," said Mark Crea, Executive Director of Feed My Starving Children. "In just two hours' time, these staff members will produce thousands of meals for starving children. We invite all members of the Twin Cities community to follow this example to serve those in need around the world."
Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) is a non-profit Christian organization committed to feeding God's starving children, hungry in body and spirit. The approach is simple: volunteers of all ages hand-pack meals designed specially for starving children, and FMSC ships the meals to more than 50 countries around the world. Each meal costs only 17 cents to produce. In 2007, FMSC sent 43 million meals around the world, thanks to the work of 185,000 volunteers.
On May 21st, as many as twenty associates of the Marriott Residence Inn Minneapolis Edina will volunteer at FMSC's Eagan, MN location to hand-pack meals for starving children. Members of the public are invited to volunteer at any of FMSC's three Twin Cities area locations, or at its Chicagoland (Aurora, IL) location, however advance registration is required for scheduling purposes.
