GAINESVILLE, FL, March 15, 2009
/24-7PressRelease/ -- Marty Nothstein and the Follow A Dream, Incorporated Top Alcohol Funny Car team kicks-off the 2009 season at the AC Delco NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Florida this weekend.
"I'm entering this year with lots of enthusiasm," said Nothstein, the 2000 Olympic Gold Medal cyclist, who's entering his second year driving the team's Permatex/Wynn's/Texas Roadhouse Top Alcohol Funny Car. "We accomplished a lot as a team last year and I believe that with tuner Tommy Howell back from his duty in Afghanistan, we can build on the success of last year."
Nothstein, who's reaction times were near the top of the charts throughout the season, made it to three straight Northeast Division 1 finals in 2008, and finished 17th in the country in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. Nothstein also established the fifth fastest pass in Top Alcohol Funny Car history at the SuperNationals in Englishtown, and was responsible for ending defending national champ Frank Manzo's streak of 47 straight elimination round victories.
"We have an excellent shot at coming out of the box quickly in Gainesville," said Nothstein. "The team won the Gatornationals in 2006, which means we have some great data to work with."
