Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellent in all aspects of education, counseling, and writing.
With 33 years experience in the public school system, Ms. Gendusa-Yokum is a retired educator and counselor. She began her profession as a teacher for first-grade students, then achieving her M.Ed. in counseling and psychology, she specialized in special education working principally in middle schools with emotionally disturbed students and teaching parenting skills to parents including those of autistic students.
At the university level she spent two years teaching undergraduates in the department of psychology at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas; then in later years taught graduate teachers working on their master's degrees; and on Saturdays was an instructor in math in the Upward Bound Program at the university for area high school students.
Ms. Gendusa-Yokum established the Tutoring Center for Academic Excellence and ran it successfully for over 20 years. She credits her success to her positive attitude and regard for others, love of children, and her ability to understand them.
In addition to her license as professional counselor Ms. Gendusa-Yokum holds certifications as professional mid-management administrator, educational diagnostician, special education counselor and teacher. She received her B.A. degree from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana, and her Master's degree in Counseling and Psychology as well as her Master's as Educational Diagnostician from West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas. Her Master's Mid-Management Administrator was completed at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. In the year 2000, National Association of Forensic Counselors, Fort Wayne, Indiana, awarded Ms. Gendusa-Yokum the Diplomate in Psychotherapy. She is president of the Hi-Plains Chapter of the Poetry Society of Texas and immediate past-president of the Kappa Eta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.
Her future plans include publishing books of her poetry and anecdotal records of life in the deep south -- Louisiana and Mississippi, and co-authoring a book of Flash Fiction.
