Mary Jane Noack-Raisch Has 20 Years of Experience in Teaching American and English Literature

COLUMBIA, MO, December 21, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ --Mary Jane Noack-Raisch, Instructor of English for Moberly Area Community College, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in higher education.

With 20 years of experience in the academe, Ms. Noack-Raisch is considered an authority on American and English literature. She has taught in a variety of settings, from universities and colleges to public and private school systems. In her current position at Moberly since 2007, she is responsible primarily for teaching freshman classes in literature and composition. As an educator, Ms. Noack-Raisch places emphasis on making learning enjoyable and guiding her students through the process of writing their papers. She is proud to see her efforts pay off, with many of her pupils moving on to obtain master's and doctoral degrees and some embarking on their own careers in education. She attributes her success to her flexibility and ability to build rapport with students.

Prior to joining Moberly Area Community College, Ms. Noack-Raisch taught at William Woods University and Columbia University. She was invited to the Oxford Round Table to present "Edna Pontellier and Lilly Bart: A Study of Early Criticism and Character in Kate Chopin's 'The Awakening' and Edith Wharton's 'The House of Mirth,'" a paper that took her almost two years to research and write. Initially an art major, Ms. Noack-Raisch heeded the calling to switch to English, though she still continues to paint in her spare time.

Ms. Noack-Raisch received her Master's Degree in English in 1993 from Truman University. She is a lifetime member of Sigma Tau Delta and was honored with inclusion in Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. An active member of her community, she teaches Sunday school, organizes the local children's Christmas pageant, and volunteers with Trinity Lutheran Church. She also gives generously to Disabled American Veterans and international children's organizations, as well as sponsors individual students. Ms. Noack-Raisch looks forward to more years at Moberly, possibly teaching a few more classes and pursuing her Doctor of Education.
