Mary Kahlefent-Sharp Honored for Excellence in Elementary Education

    RIVERSIDE, CA, September 15, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mary Kahlefent-Sharp, Teacher at Pacific Avenue Elementary School of Jurupa Unified School District, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of elementary education.

With an impressive professional background that spans 36 years, Ms. Kahlefent-Sharp specializes in teaching elementary school students. An active singer, she is involved with a number of chorale groups including the Riverside Raincross Chorale, the Riverside Master Chorale and the Riverside Opera Association. She also sings with her church choir and has performed pieces in Latin, Greek, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Hebrew, Yiddish, Russian, Catalan, and Portuguese. Her singing groups make CD's of their performances.

Ms. Kahlefent-Sharp attributes her success to her faith in God and notes that she became involved in her profession due to a desire to educate and assist children. She earned her teaching credentials in 1973 from Cal Poly Pomona and completed post-graduate coursework at the University of California, LaVerne University, Loyola Marymount University, and California Baptist University. She received her Master's of Arts Degree in Education from Grand Canyon University, her Bachelor of Arts in Music from California State University and her Associate of Arts in General Studies from Riverside Community College. Ms. Kahlefent-Sharp was chosen for inclusion in Biltmore Who's Who as a lifetime member (2007-2008) and Who's Who Among American Teachers for three consecutive Years (2004-2005; 2005-2006; and 2006-2007)—accomplishments of which she is particularly proud. She is a member of Pi Lambda Theta, the National Educational Association-Jurupa Branch and the California Teachers Association.
