Mary Widmer, BS, BRE, BSW, RSW (M.Div), Named a VIP Member of Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Social Work

    KAMLOOPS, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA, April 15, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mary Widmer, BSc, BRE, BSW, RSW (M.Div), a Registered Social Worker and owner of C&C Resources for Life, was recently named a VIP member of Worldwide Who's Who. This special distinction honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to achieving personal and professional success.

Ms. Widmer asserts that she became a grief counselor as a natural progression from her work as a Social Service Assistant in a seniors care facility. She went on to obtain her Bachelor of Social Work degree in 2002; and in 2008 started working as a Family Support Counselor for Kamloops Funeral Home. After 10 years of experience as a social worker, in May, 2011 she started her own private practice, C&C Resources for Life, which is a grief therapy and counseling center. Over the years, Ms. Widmer has gained substantial expertise in grief counseling. She is highly skilled at providing one-on one counseling and facilitating support groups. As a Certified Celebrant she regularly officiates at Celebration of Life services for families who want a non-traditional way of remembering a loved one who has died.

Previously, Ms. Widmer spent 15 years in missionary work in Thailand. Since beginning in Social Work, she has started a nonprofit organization called NeighbourLink that served the community successfully for 10 years. She also collaborated with the Elizabeth Fry Society to begin a networking community development group called "Changing the Face of Poverty" with the goal of finding local solutions to reducing poverty in her community.

Ms. Widmer is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity degree from Carey Theological College. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Thompson Rivers University and is a Registered Social Worker. Previous educational accomplishments include a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Medicine from the University of British Columbia, and a Bachelor of Religious Education from Prairie Bible College. Ms. Widmer is also an ordained minister with Canadian Baptists of Western Canada.
