    FAYETTEVILLE, NC, November 8, 2008 /Cambridge Who's Who/ -- Dr. Maryjane McCallum Kirby, Faculty Member at Walden University, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of educational administration.

With experience that spans 25 years, Dr. Kirby specializes in educational administration. Her responsibilities as a faculty member at Walden University include mentoring and assisting graduate students with their dissertations. She previously worked as a kindergarten assistant, as a reading teacher for first- through eighth-grade students, and as a teacher for students from kindergarten to ninth grade. Additionally, Dr. Kirby has taught African and Asian studies, politics, economics and law, communications, language arts, and North Carolina history in a local middle school for 14 years. She has been recognized by Who's Who Among America's Teachers, International Who's Who of Professional Management, Who's Who in American Education and Celebrating Excellence in Educational Leadership. She wrote as an assignment in an advanced children's literature course, "Theodore Turkey's First Thanksgiving," as well as a dissertation, "The Advantages of Parental Involvement in Closing the Achievement Gap," that has been published by ProQuest and can be located in the Library of Congress. She considers her perseverance to be the key to her success.

Dr. Kirby received her Ph.D. in Education, with a specialization in Educational Leadership from Capella University in 2006, her Master's Degree in Administration from Fayetteville State University in 1996, her Dual Master's Degree in Middle School and Elementary Education in 1986, and her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Methodist College (University) in 1979. She is currently taking an online course in Ed.D. Doctoral studies to mentor adult educators pursuing a doctorate in education. A doctorate in Superintendency and a doctorate in Principalship for grades K-12, she is also certified in middle school language arts for grades six through nine, in elementary education for grades K-6 and in middle school social studies for grades six through nine. Her professional affiliations include Kappa Delta Pi Educational Honor Society, Alpha Psi Omega National Theatre Honor Society, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the North Carolina Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (Golden Life), Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars (Golden Life) and the American Association of University Women.
