The leading general contractor was named the 2009 Contractor of the Year for its commitment to worker safety, training and community involvement. In addition to winning the top accolade, McCarthy projects in both Northern and Southern California received awards, including the NADEV Printing Facility, LAC + USC Medical Replacement Facility, and the Huntington Beach Union High School District Auditorium and Bell Tower Renovation.

California Construction's awards program is open to all general contractors in California and entrants were evaluated based on their records of excellence in three categories: Business Leadership; Investment in People; and Community/Industry Involvement/Leadership.
