SAN FRANCISCO, CA, January 09, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bruce Timm has joined McDonough Holland & Allen PC, a leading Northern California law firm representing both public and private sector clients, as of counsel. Formerly a founding partner of Barth Tozer & Timm LLP, Timm litigates employment and general civil matters on behalf of private and public entity clients.

"For the past decade, Bruce has represented a wide range of clients on the full scope of employment-related disputes, and he brings sophisticated and innovative litigation strategies that will only enhance the strong capabilities we have in this practice area," said McDonough's Managing Shareholder Edward J. Quinn, Jr.

Timm has litigated employment law and general civil cases in state and federal courts for more than 10 years. He has defended clients in a host of employment law disputes, including matters involving claims of sexual harassment, discrimination (including disability, race and gender discrimination), wrongful termination, misappropriation of trade secrets/unfair competition, wage/hour violations, workplace retaliation (including whistleblower, workers' compensation and OSHA related retaliation), and disputes under the California Family Rights Act. Timm also has represented clients in connection with administrative claims before the Department of Fair Employment & Housing and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Prior to founding his firm, Timm gained experience at Littler Mendelson P.C., Kronick, Mozkovitz, Tiedemann & Girard, and Abbott & Nolen, all in Sacramento.

Timm has served as a supervising adjunct professor in the Appellate Advocacy/International Program at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where he educated students on legal writing, research and oral argument, and he is a frequent speaker in employment law-related issues, such as workplace retaliation and discrimination. He also has served as president of the Sacramento County Barristers' Club and as a member of the Sacramento County Bar Council. Timm works with local lawyers, judges and high school teachers to foster greater understanding of the Constitution and American history, as well as engagement in government among high school students as an officer on the Board of Directors for community outreach group "Operation Protect and Defend - A Dialogue on America."

Timm earned his J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law (1998), where he was selected as the Top Oral Advocate for the 1996-97 academic year as a member of the National Moot Court Competition Team and the Moot Court Honors Board. He earned his B.A. in management from Sonoma State University (1994).
