When facing a cancer diagnosis patients want a highly trained physician who provides an extraordinary level of service and compassion. Dr. Birenbaum feels everyone should receive high quality cancer care regardless of their type of insurance.

Each year thousands of North Texans travel hundreds of miles to MD Anderson or other cancer treatment facilities when they have an MD Anderson trained physician here in North Texas at THOC.

DALLAS, TX, November 05, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- For over 35 years Texas Hematology Oncology Centers (THOC) have been helping patients from across the entire state of Texas fight cancer. Dr. Birenbaum is a fellowship trained Hematologist Oncologist at Texas Hematology Oncology Centers. He completed his fellowships in Hematology and Oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He also served one year as associate faculty at MD Anderson Tumor Institute, the world's top cancer center.

Each year thousands of North Texas residents travel hundreds of miles away to M.D. Anderson and other cancer treatment facilities to receive care, when they have an M.D. Anderson trained physician right here in North Texas at the Texas Hematology Oncology Centers. Dr. Dennis Birenbaum, the Medical Director and Founder of THOC says, "We offer the most advanced cancer care technology in the region. THOC's ongoing commitment is to bring the services you need where you need them close to home. We have reopened our offices in Dallas, Carrollton, and McKinney to provide world class cancer care to all patients across North Texas."

Dr. Birenbaum's Patient Centered Philosophy

Do you, your family member, or your friend have their oncologists cell phone and home phone number? Is he or she available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for any questions or concerns they may have? If not, experience patient centered care the Texas Hematology Oncology Center way.

More then likely you, a family member, or someone you know are facing the diagnosis of cancer. Cancer is far reaching and does not discriminate. This year in Texas it is projected that 112,230 people will be facing a new cancer diagnosis. A cancer diagnosis is accompanied by a host of emotions and can be a difficult confusing time. During this time patients want a highly trained, experienced physician to help them fight this disease while providing an extraordinary level of service and compassion.

The most essential element in dealing with oncology patients is that you must provide a patient centered approach of service. Dr. Birenbaum states "When I left MD Anderson I thought to myself: God forbid if I have cancer I would want my doctor to provide the level of compassion and service that a family member would provide. I would want my doctor to be available to me anytime I have a question or concern and not an PA or MA." Dr. Birenbaum implemented a patient centered approach to cancer care at Texas Hematology Oncology Centers with the infusion nurses, clinical nurses, and himself being available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for our patients. All patients receive our clinical staff and Dr. Birenbaum's personal cell phone numbers and are encouraged to call with questions or concerns.

After leaving MD Anderson, this proactive approach in the treatment of cancer led Dr. Birenbaum to do extensive research and discovered that 20-22% of oncology patients are inappropriately placed in hospice services when they have not been given all the protocols available, all the clinical trials, all the phase II and phase III drugs that could put them in remission.

Experts say cancer care is often too expensive, and the most privileged are getting far better care than people with lower income, minorities, people who live away from big cities, the elderly, and those who can't afford to travel to the top cancer centers in the United States. Dr. Birenbaum realizes this phenomenon occurs in cancer care and brings his MD Anderson training to the Dallas, Carrollton, and McKinney areas. Texas Hematology Oncology Centers accepts all patients regardless of income, race, age, or insurance. Dr. Birenbaum and his staff are fluent in Spanish to better serve the growing needs of our Spanish speaking population here in North Texas.
