Mechanical Thrombectomy Device is Clinically Effective, Easy to Use and Cost Effective for Hospitals

    PARK CITY, UT, October 15, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Pablo Uceda, Vascular Surgeon with DFW Vascular, Dallas, Texas was successful in using a new device to clean blood clots out of a hemodialysis graft.

The patient presented with a freshly occluded dialysis graft, filled with blood clot. A dialysis graft is a surgically placed tube or conduit that connects an artery to a vein for hemodialysis access. A dialysis machine is used to clean the patient's blood, performing the normal function of your kidneys.

Dr. Uceda first infused Tissue Plasminogen Activator ("TPA"), a thrombolytic agent, into the graft then performed angioplasty. Then, Dr. Uceda used the Aspire Mechanical Thrombectomy device to clean out the blood clot in the graft.
