/24-7PressRelease/ - LEEDS, UK, July 06, 2008 - Andalucía's only new resort development with coastal frontage, the Playa Macenas Beach & Golf Resort, Mojácar, celebrates the official inauguration of its golf course and Beach Club later this month.
The development, the most sophisticated and modern resort in Andalucía will be officially launched on 12th July 2008 by Jordi Robinat, President of its developer, the Med Group.
Located just ten minutes from the 4,000-year-old ancient town of Mojácar, and close to the stunning Níjar-Cabo de Gata National Park, the resort covers a total of 140 hectares and has a kilometre of coastline - the only new resort in the region to do so.
The 18-hole, par 68 golf course forms the backbone of the development and combines indigenous species of vegetation, with natural and man-made hazards, to the backdrop of a sea view.
The Beach Club, which is also the Golf Clubhouse and customer care centre, overlooks the Mediterranean and benefits from first-class facilities including a large gym with the latest fitness equipment, outdoor pool, changing rooms, showers, spa, Jacuzzis, saunas, steam room, plus a lounge, restaurant, terrace bar, boutiques and sun terrace.
Jordi Robinat, President of the Med Group, said: "We have created a golf and beach resort that match the beauty of this wonderful area.
"Our first objective when we started planning this residential community development, was to be sympathetic with the natural surroundings, which is evident in the choice of materials, colour schemes and planting.

The first property owners moved into the residential community at the end of 2007 and already more than 200 properties, ranging from apartments, houses and villas, have been built. Once complete, the 140-hecatre site will be home to 1,395 residential units, with just a 30 per cent maximum building standard.
Almeria airport is 45 minutes from Playa Macenas Beach & Golf Resort; Murcia is one hour and Alicante 2.5 hours. Scheduled UK airlines flying direct to Almeria include: Easyjet, Jet2.com, Monarch, and Ryanair.

3. Med Group's Environmental Department has put in place a number of initiatives designed to conserve nature and establish mechanisms that contribute to sustainable development. Research has been carried out with the University of Almeria into the study and conservation of indigenous flora and fauna, an initiative which led to the creation of a botanical reserve in the resort. Thousands of local plants and animals such as the Limonium Estevei and the spur-thighed tortoise were retrieved and relocated. During the construction works, strict environmental monitoring procedures have been implemented, via air and noise pollution monitoring stations. All companies involved in the construction process have been required to comply with environmental best practices.
4. Amongst its environmental protection measures, Playa Macenas Beach & Golf Resort has implemented water saving and recycling measures. A new, larger dimension water pipeline will allow an increased volume of water to be brought in from the desalination plant at Carboneras. In addition, waste water will be piped to a biomembrane treatment plant, producing water of excellent quality that will be used to water the golf course and green areas. A solar power plant is being built alongside the water treatment plant to generate electricity.
