Media & Entertainment Lawyer Marc Jacobson Recognized by Chambers USA for Sixth Straight Year

New York Entertainment Lawyer highly ranked again by Chambers USA.

NEW YORK, NY, June 04, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marc Jacobson announced today that Chambers USA included him among the top Media and Entertainment Lawyers practicing in New York City in Film, Music, Television and Theater. This is Jacobson's sixth consecutive year in the prestigious listing, based on peer and client reviews.

Jacobson is an internationally-renowned media and entertainment lawyer, business executive and lecturer with broad experience in the Entertainment, Internet and Media industries. With offices in midtown Manhattan, he offers clients guidance in the creation, development, financing, distribution, and exploitation of film, television, music, publishing, and theatrical properties through traditional means as well as mobile and new media technologies.

"Chambers USA takes the time to interview peers and clients, giving greater weight to client reviews. Entertainment lawyers rise and fall based on the satisfaction of our clientele, so receiving this kind of recognition is very meaningful," Jacobson said. "I am honored to be part of this very small, prestigious group of high quality attorneys."

Jacobson represents a wide range of clients including The New York Philharmonic; GoomRadio.com, a French based Internet radio station with a growing US presence; Jimmy Webb, the great American songwriter and author of "Up, Up & Away" and "Wichita Lineman", among other classic songs; Omega Entertainment, producer of the forthcoming "Betty Anne Waters," starring Hilary Swank and Sam Rockwell; DGDW Entertainment, a leading producer of concerts to benefit charitable organizations; Fred Zollo, noted theatrical ("A Steady Rain" "Angels in America") and motion picture ("Quiz Show" the forthcoming "Sweet Lorraine") producer; Ninja Tune Records and Just Isn't Music, the companies which signed "The Heavy"; Aruna Media, which secured the out of home 3D broadcast rights to the 2010 FIFA World Cup; the chart-topping singer Nicole Henry; and Brian and Ed Holland, members of Holland-Dozier-Holland, famed Motown songwriters.

The firm will continue to represent talent and companies in their music, television and film projects. Jacobson advises clients on how to effectively use state, federal and foreign tax incentives in financing the production of television and theatrical motion pictures. He devotes significant attention to the challenges faced by music owners and users in licensing songs across the European Union.

Jacobson was a pioneer in the Internet business, playing a major role in the success of Prodigy Communications Corporation from 1995 - 1999, serving as Chief Financial Officer, General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Corporate Development & Public Policy. He helped guide Prodigy's three divisions and international ventures in nine countries. He orchestrated the company's successful management-led/investor-backed buyout in 1996 and its IPO in February 1999. He resolved the Stratton Oakmont v Prodigy libel case, averting $200 million in damages and reversing a prior ruling against Prodigy without payment of any money to the plaintiff. He testified before Congress and the World Intellectual Property Organization ("WIPO") regarding the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and the Berne Convention. Jacobson also was President and Chief Operating Officer, Politics.com, Inc. (www.politics.com) (NASDAQ: POCO); Chief Financial Officer, Turbo Chef Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: TRBO); President, TurboChef Internet (www.turbochef.com); Chief Operating Officer, MY-CD.com, Inc. (www.my-cd.com).
