HOUSTON, TX, September 17, 2009
/24-7PressRelease/ -- Medical Research Consultants (MRC), a woman-owned record retrieval and medical records analysis firm, advises qualifying companies to begin preparations for the Mandatory Insurer Reporting regulations that will soon take effect. Companies who fall into the category of Responsible Reporting Entities (RREs) are faced with a September 30, 2009 deadline to register with CMS, with mandatory live file submission beginning in 2010. This schedule leaves only a short window of time for RREs to determine their reporting responsibilities and put internal processes in place.
Section 111 of the MMSEA adds mandatory reporting requirements with respect to Medicare beneficiaries who receive a settlement, judgment, award or other payment from liability insurance (including self-insurance), no-fault or worker's compensation insurance. Affected entities include corporations and insurers involved in products liability, toxic torts and other personal injury claims.
MRC offers companies falling into the category of Responsible Reporting Entities full reporting agent services, including collection, validation, and reporting of claimant information, and will manage electronic query and data management processes.
To best support this client base, MRC recently entered into a collaborative agreement with Piatt Consulting, a company offering specialized software solutions for MMSEA Section 111 and Medicare Secondary Payer data management and reporting. Piatt Consulting, founded by David Piatt, former Program Director of the Medicare Secondary Payer Recovery Contract (MSPRC), offers unique expertise in Mandatory Insurer Reporting requirements and processes. MRC's founder and CEO, Doreen James Wise, issued the following statement, "MRC has a history of adapting our services to meet the evolving needs of our industry. Many of our long-term clients will soon be affected by the new MMSEA Section 111 regulations, and we look forward to collaborating with Piatt Consulting to present a well-developed, cost-effective solution."
To learn more: MRC recently issued a white paper identifying the challenges faced by RREs, and outlining steps companies can take to address those challenges prior to the upcoming deadlines. "Protecting Medicare's Interest through MMSEA: A Practical Guide for Responsible Reporting Entities" is available free of charge through MRC's website.
