Medic-CE and Code3 CME to Host Webinar on How Narcan, the "Save Shot," Can Help Fight Opiate Overdoses

Medic-CE, a Career Step company and provider of the Code3 CME VILT Solution, will host a free, live webinar on how Narcan, the "save shot," can help fight the sudden increase in opiate related overdoses in the U.S.

LEHI, UT, November 09, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Medic CE, a Career Step company and provider of accredited, online continuing education for EMS and firefighting professionals, is hosting a live, 1-hour webinar, "Narcan: Using The 'Save Shot' To Fight The Opiate Epidemic". The free webinar, to be held on November 14, 2016 at 12 p.m. Eastern time, will be hosted by Janet Taylor, BSN, a full-time flight nurse for Mercy Life Line and national EMS educator from Springfield, MO.

"First responders are seeing an increase in opiate overdoses in recent years, and we want to make sure they have the most up-to-date clinical information they need as they approach these situations," said Judson Smith, Career Step Vice President of Continuing Education. "Narcan is an essential life-saving tool for their arsenal. We are pleased to offer this critical information to EMS providers interested in learning how to use Narcan as they combat this concerning trend in our upcoming webinar."

At the conclusion of the presentation, participants will be able to list at least three substances that fall under the opiate/opioid category and at least three signs and symptoms of an opiate overdose. Attendees will also discuss national trends associated with this epidemic and will have the opportunity to participate in a question/answer session with Ms. Taylor and Mr. Smith at the end of the webinar.

"I am excited to be part of this webinar to help participants understand how to recognize and properly intervene when they are faced with an opiate overdose victim," said Ms. Taylor. "My experience as a flight nurse has presented me with a broad range of emergency situations, and I am all-too-familiar with the time-sensitive nature of these types of emergencies. Recognizing the signs and symptoms of overdose and learning how to properly administer Narcan will allow first responders and those who work in emergency medical situations to respond quickly and confidently when faced with an overdose victim."

The webinar presentation will be held November 14 at 12 p.m. Eastern time. It is free to attend and open to EMS providers. Registration is required at https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/38287572253209346
