WATERFORD, CT, December 3, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Melvin Orenstein, Registered Pharmacist-PD (Retired), has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in pharmaceutical operations.

Now retired, Mr. Orenstein has 48 years of experience in pharmacy care. He is the former owner and manager of what was noted as a family and community pharmacy that always gave back to the community in support of different organizations, as well as a contributor to the local high school. He has a scholarship fund set up at The Community Foundation of Southeastern Connecticut and administered by Mr. Orenstein, in memory of his late wife, Alyce Orenstein, who received an employee of the month award for her work with the students. The funds are awarded to a student at New London High School to be used toward furthering their education. The Community Foundation of Southeastern Connecticut is located at 147 State Street, P.O. Box 769, New London, CT 06320. He is the proud grandfather of Sam, twin girls Lexi and Lillah, and granddaughter Kasen.

Mr. Orenstein received his bachelor of science in pharmacy from the University of Connecticut in 1960 and was awarded a doctor of pharmacy by the Connecticut Pharmaceutical Association. He became involved in his profession because of his passion to help others, and he attributes his success to his customer service skills.
