Menuism Makes Facebook a Tastier Place To Be

/24-7PressRelease/ - June 04, 2007 - A week after Facebook opened its doors to outside applications, Menuism launches the first nationwide Facebook application related to eating. This means that any of the 24 million active users on Facebook can be a part of an ongoing nationwide discussion about the best and worst restaurants.

"Facebook Platform creates an ecosystem for developers to build applications that deeply integrate into Facebook and use its social graph," said Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook. "By enabling developers to make applications within Facebook, we're working together to create a better utility for millions of people."

As an online hub of socialization for self-described "food fanatics", Menuism will allow Facebook users to post restaurant reviews while being notified of where their friends are eating. The purely democratic review process allows users to contribute to a restaurant's rating with a good or bad review.

Also available on the Menuism Facebook application is the GutCheck feature, which allows users to broadcast what they're eating at any given time - for better or worse. "Even though I don't like to share food with friends in person, I'll share what I'm eating virtually," explains founder Justin Chen. "Is there a more intimate way of connecting with your friends than seeing what's in their stomachs?"

Menuism complements Facebook well because the two bring together the friends you trust and their dining experiences. "People always turn to friends for restaurant recommendations, and there's no better network of friends than Facebook," says founder John Li. "I trust my friends' opinions on cheesy fries, not some food critic's."

Menuism plans to continue enhancing their "Eating" application on Facebook with features that help friends connect around food. To get started, head to: http://apps.facebook.com/menuism

Facebook Platform is a development platform that enables companies and engineers to integrate with Facebook and gain access to millions of users. More than 50 percent of Facebook users return to the site each day, providing unparalleled distribution potential for applications and the opportunity to build a business that is highly relevant to people's lives.
