When activated, it displays the captured field on a black-and-white screen in the instrument cluster. Unlike other systems that identify only warm objects like animals but not cold ones such as debris, it can detect both. And with the image on a high-resolution screen, drivers can get a clear, sharp picture of what is ahead.
Distronic Plus: Distronic Plus Adaptive Cruise Control is another innovation from Mercedes-Benz that monitors the traffic ahead to help maintain the driver's selected following distance, even in stop-and-go traffic. Using two onboard radar systems, Distronic can employ up to 40 percent of the vehicle's braking power to slow the vehicle and uses a tap of the accelerator to bring the vehicle back to full speed depending on the flow of traffic.
In addition to these two technological innovations, Mercedes-Benz also offers other advanced technologies like Pre-Safe, Command Cockpit Management and Data system, and Rear View Monitor.
Pre-Safe: Mercedes-Benz was the first to design this safety system and is still the only manufacturer to offer it as a standard feature. This system acts decisively to protect the occupants when the sensors detect the possibility of collision.
Command: Command Cockpit Management and Data system combines radio, optional GPS satellite navigation, AUX-in devices, and controls for the optional phone and six-disc CD changer into one convenient dash unit.
Rear View Monitor: This technology enables the driver to see what is behind the vehicle while reversing.
