/24-7PressRelease/ -- On September 2, volunteers from _a href="http://www.merchantsvcs.com"_Merchant Services_/a_ in Irvine, CA delivered 227 backpacks filled with school supplies to children who participate in the Motel Outreach Program coordinated by the Boys & Girls Club of Anaheim as part of their "Give Back... Packs!" program.
More than 150 _a href="http://www.merchantsvcs.com"_Merchant Services_/a_ volunteers joined together to purchase and deliver the school supplies to the children. Vice President of Merchant Services Nathan Jurczyk said "Supporting our community is core to our business philosophy. As a business, it's important to be a responsible corporate citizen, and we are proud of the efforts of our volunteers in helping these kids with being successful in school."
Merchant Services purchased backpacks for the children, while the volunteers donated supplies including pencils, pens, calculators, paper, crayons and other school essentials.
Barbara Quintana, Board Member of the Girls & Boys Club of Anaheim and member of the Magnolia School District Board of Trustees shared that her favorite part of being involved with the program was "seeing the look on the children's faces, how elated they are when they receive sometimes the only thing they've ever been given that they can call their own. You're doing something for someone else who doesn't have anything."
The Boys and Girls Club Motel Outreach Program provides children from preschool through high school a safe place to go after school to play, work on social skills, get homework help, and have a hot meal. The more than 300 children who are part of the program live in transient motels with up to eight family members in one room. The Boys & Girls Club of Anaheim offers the children the tools to get them on the path to success.
