/Cambridge Who's Who/ -- Merline Douglass-Taylor, Assistant Director of Nursing at Broadway House for Continuing Care, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of nursing.
A dedicated and passionate nursing professional, Merline Douglass-Taylor has an impressive 36-year background in the healthcare field. For the past seven years, she has served as the assistant director of nursing at Broadway House for Continuing Care, a specialized nursing care facility that provides residential care and rehabilitative services for individuals living with HIV/AIDS. At her post, Ms. Douglass-Taylor effectively utilizes her expertise to assist the director of nursing, build relationships and care for patients, and guide and coordinate staff members. Additionally, she promotes residential care services and troubleshoots problems, in conjunction with all departments, to ensure resident safety and satisfaction.
In addition to her work experience, Ms. Douglass-Taylor has honed her professional skills by completing an associate of science in nursing through Essex County College and obtaining certifications in advanced cardiac life support, basic life support, advanced fetal monitoring and CPR. She is also a certified intervention specialist and holds an IV certification. She notes that she was encouraged to enter her profession by her father, and attributes her success to her educational background, top-notch communication skills, and the support she receives from her mentors and colleagues. In recognition of her professional accomplishments, she was named Professional of the Year in Nursing by Cambridge Who's Who in 2008 and was honored with the Healthcare Award by The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey in 2007.
In her free time, Ms. Douglass-Taylor enjoys gardening and being with her family. She intends to decrease her workload and partake in more leisurely activities within the next two years. She has also served on the UMDNJ Board of Concerned Citizens.
