BOSTON, MA, April 05, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- MFS Eyewear , a leading manufacturer of children's 100% UV protective eyewear, is partnering with Prevent Blindness America, the nation's oldest volunteer eye health and safety organization, to promote UV protection awareness to parents and children at the Chicago Children's Museum at Navy Pier from May to August 2009. Their efforts seek to educate attendees on the vulnerability of children's eyes to sunlight, and the damage that extended UV exposure may cause. The proactive implementation of 100% UV protective eyewear is crucial in order to prevent serious eye conditions such as photokeratitis, as well as macular degeneration and cataracts, which may develop later in life.

Prevent Blindness America will give children who participate in the free vision screening the 100% UV protection sunglasses from MFS Eyewear which are specifically designed to absorb the wear and tear of active children, which shielding eyes from harmful rays. The wraparound design and neoprene band of the sunglasses functions to block out peripheral light while securing the children's sunglasses in place. Wraparound sunglasses that block 100 percent of UVA and UVB are the most effective in protecting eyes in addition to the delicate skin around the eyes.

Organizers hope that the distribution of MFS Eyewear sunshades at the monthly vision screenings will prompt parents and children to begin practicing proper eye protection[/url] when spending time outdoors.

MFS Eyewear offers premium quality products that provide maximum sun protection, and appeal to children with their fun and fashionable designs. The clever wraparound design and neoprene band functions to block out peripheral light while securing the children's sunshades in place. Vice President Lisa Medora comments, "As a mother and corporate citizen, I believe it is essential to share the importance of a proper sun safety regimen for the eyes, a part of the body that is often neglected, and we are excited to work with Prevent Blindness America to spread this message."
