    NEW YORK, NY, February 04, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Michael H. Stone, MD, Physician, Psychiatrist and Professor of Clinical Psychiatry of Columbia University Medical Center, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in mental health care.

Dr. Stone has 50 years of professional experience, with 48 years as a physician, psychiatrist and professor of clinical psychiatry at the Columbia University Medical Center. As a doctor, he specializes in the treatment of personality disorders, forensics and general psychiatry. On a daily basis, he is responsible for maintaining specialties in antisocial personality disorder, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, depressive disorder, forensic psychiatry, personality disorders, psychoanalysis, psychotic disorders, schizophrenia and schizotypal personality disorder. Columbia University Medical Center is a Health care services provider that provides Health care services. Looking back, Dr. Stone became involved in his profession because he was interested in how the mind worked. He switched his specialty due to his medical school's psychiatry program, which he felt was lacking, but eventually the government started offering grants to go into psychiatry. Dr. Stone attributes his success to his openness to new ideas, and his flexibility in terms of approach. He also credits his independence of thought, which helps him keep an open mind when diagnosing and treating patients.

Dr. Stone completed training through the Institute for Psychoanalytic Training and Research at Columbia University in 1971, and he has also completed a residency in psychiatry from the New York State Psychiatric Institute in 1966. Additional training that he has undertaking includes a residency in internal medicine from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 1963, a fellowship in cancer chemotherapy from the Sloan Kettering Institute in 1963, a fellowship in hematology from the Sloan Kettering Institute in 1962 and a residency in internal medicine in the then Cornell Division of Bellevue Hospital in 1961. He was recently inducted into Worldwide Registry and also maintains affiliation with the American Psychiatric Association and The Personality Disorders Institute. In 2014, he was recognized as a New York Metro Area Top Doctor by Vitals Patient's Choice, and he received a fifth anniversary award from Castle Connolly in 2013. Furthermore, he has been honored for lifetime service by the National Association of Forensic Counselors in 2011.
In five years, Dr. Stone intends to do more television work.
