Michael Wilkinson of Leadership Strategies Releases New White Paper: The Cost of Wasted Meetings

The paper, titled "The Cost of Wasted Meetings," discusses the true cost associated with the ineffectual and otherwise bad meetings that organizations host.

According to Wilkinson, bad meetings are the equivalent of your organization burning money. He reasons that a single bad meeting wastes man hours that could otherwise be used productively, which means they also waste the money that pays for those man hours. Unfortunately, he notes, more than 75 percent of employees believe that the majority of the meetings they attend are a waste of time.

Wilkinson argues in his paper that the solution is not to abolish meetings overall, but instead to improve the ones you must have and eliminate those that are not necessary. The movement towards creating better meetings will begin when leadership decides that bad meetings are no longer acceptable, whether in a single department or across an entire enterprise.
