Microboards Launches Second Generation CD/DVD Printer New CD/DVD Printer from Microboards Builds on Success of Print Factory

Microboards today announced the launch of PF-2, a high volume disc printer that helps create discs at a high speed and with a low cost-per-disc without outsourcing production.

/24-7PressRelease.com/ - Chanhassen, MN-December 19, 2004 As the demand for in-house CD/DVD production grows, Microboards Technology LLC, a leading provider of disc duplication and printing solutions, today announced the launch of PF-2, a high volume disc printer that helps organizations create discs at a high speed and with a low cost-per-disc without outsourcing production.

Microboards provides a solution that enables users to create a distributable CD or DVD quickly and cost effectively. Print Factory delivers the ability to add a full-color, professional label to discs for organizations such as churches, pro-audio and pro-video content producers, sales organizations, and marketing departments that need many copies of their finished product quickly.

The new PF-2 boasts a doubling of capacity from 50 to 100 discs along with a spindled-output for improved stacking and handling, while still continuing with the ability to print 16.7 million colors at up to 4800 dpi resolution. The PF-2 will also have a reduced list price, dropping to $2,495.

"The PF-2 is a natural evolution from our first Print Factory," said Mitch Ackmann, President and COO of Microboards Technology. "Our studies show that the original Print Factory is being used to print remarkable quantities of discs. And we have seen a strong demand for larger input and output capacity."

Internal market research performed by the company indicates that the each Print Factory installation is being used to produce an average of several thousand discs per month in a wide variety of applications. Ackmann points to the increase in average job sizes as a factor in Print Factory use. "Since Print Factory reduces both the cost and labor requirements of sending out discs, larger jobs emphasize the Print Factory's efficiency even more."

The notable levels of usage may also stem from the increased adoption of DVD. With optical media experts warning against the practice of using paper labels, the PF-2 has a place with high-performance DVD technology. "A few years ago we were introducing the market to the aesthetic benefits of printing directly on CDs, without using paper stick-on labels." said John Westrum, Microboards' CTO. "With the onset of higher-performance DVD technology, that ability has become more than a benefit. It is a necessity."
