MicroWorld reports the discovery of a new virus which spreads through MSN Messenger.
This virus called W32/Bropia-F when executed will copy itself to the root folder of the machine using different filenames and to the Windows system folder with the filename of msnmsr.exe. The worm then sits there and monitors the status of the MSN Messenger and sends a copy of itself to each and every contact registered in the Messenger. The worm will also create a new file sexy.jpg which is a JPEG image to the root folder. It also copies an update.exe file to the Windows system folder.
MicroWorld has released a general notice to all its customers worldwide to ensure that their range of antivirus software eScan has been updated with the latest updates.
In order to prevent such attacks, MicroWorld had recently introduced hourly updates for its range of eScan and MailScan software, so that its customers are always protected.
