Midlothian Dentist Mends Patient Smiles With Dental Implants

Dr. Stephen Booth and his associates offer dental implants as an alternative to dentures

MIDLOTHIAN, VA, September 01, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- When a patient is missing a tooth, or multiple teeth, the last thing he or she wants to do is settle for gaps in their smile. This can cause low self-esteem and anxiety in public situations. To help eliminate gaps, Dr. Stephen Booth and Dr. Lynn Penterson Booth, Midlothian, VA dentists, and their associates at Penterson and Booth are proud to offer dental implants at the practice. With the advancements in dentistry today, dental implants are frequently the best option for replacing missing teeth and restoring smiles.

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed into a patient's jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. This procedure is ideal for people in good general oral health who have lost a tooth or multiple teeth due to periodontal disease, injury, or other reasons. While dental implants may be high-tech in nature, they are more tooth-saving than traditional bridgework, since they do not rely on neighboring teeth for support.

"No one ever wants to lose a tooth, yet alone multiple teeth. Thankfully, with advancements in dentistry, I am able to offer my patients the restoration they need to smile once again. Dental implants help me to maintain my patients' smiles so that they no longer need to be ashamed to smile," said Dr. Penterson Booth, Midlothian family dentist.

Rather than resting on the gum line like removable dentures, or using adjacent teeth as anchors like fixed bridges, dental implants are long-term replacements that Dr. Penterson Booth surgically places in the jawbone. Dental implants are composed of titanium metal that "fuses" with the jawbone through a process called osseointegration. They never slip or making embarrassing noises that advertise the fact that a patient has "false teeth." Additionally, dental implants do not decay like teeth because they are made of metal and there is no tooth structure to decay. With proper care they do not become loose because the metal of the implant is integrated with the jaw, which also helps eliminate bone loss.

Whether patients are searching for teeth whitening in Midlothian, veneers, dental implants, or other services, they turn to Drs. Robert Penterson, Stephen Booth and Lynn Penterson Booth of Penterson and Booth Family Dentistry for quality care they can trust.
