James "Jim" W. Burke served in the Army, National Guard and Army Reserve for 25 years, and is an amateur military historian and Civil War re-enactor.

Burke takes place in the mid-1980's while the United States continues its post-Vietnam withdrawal from the world stage. The Soviet Union is monitoring the situation and perceives its chance to overcome NATO's defenses. The U.S. in turn is forced to mobilize a great number of Reservists and National Guard troops to stand in battle beside their active duty counterparts. How will the reservists pull through, both mentally and physically? Author Jim Burke began writing "The Weekend Warriors" in the 1980's, decades since reservists had been mobilized during the Korean War.

About the Author
James "Jim" W. Burke served in the Army, National Guard and Army Reserve for 25 years. An amateur military historian and Civil War re-enactor with Company K, Third U.S Regular Infantry, he is a graduate of the United States Military Academy and the Army Command and General Staff College. Jim volunteers with the Wounded Warrior Mentor Program (WWMP) at Fort Eustis, VA and resides in Williamsburg, VA.
