Local Band Broadcasts Live on the Net
/24-7PressRelease/ - MILWAUKEE, WI, December 29, 2006 - Elements of Style, a local band from West Bend, will be playing live at Lisa's Cafe and broadcasting live over the Internet at the same time on Friday, January 5th. The show will begin at 7 pm Central time and will be simultaneously broadcast live in Video and Audio. Admission to both the live show and the live Internet broadcast is free.
"We want to show that even the 'small guys' can do live Internet broadcasting these days", explains Steven Hoffmann, president of Talking Communities, the company providing the broadcast. The technology has come a long way to make live video and audio broadcasting simple and easy for almost anyone. Because bandwidth and development costs have dropped so much, all sorts of webcasting and web-conferencing options are available at very low prices. The locally-owned company has provided web-conferencing for online-training and live virtual meetings for years and is now moving into live video and audio broadcasting.
"It is really exciting that we will be able to reach a much larger audience by live Internet concerts than we ever could by just playing local gigs", says guitarist Tom Casper. And for those who cannot make it, the entire show will be archived and available for community members for a period of one month.
"The technology also allows for interactivity. Normally we would allow voice interaction, but in this case we are going to limit communication to text chat interactivity. Members can talk to each other or send questions right to the band", says Hoffmann. For those using the audio only version, a small plugin installation is required, but for those who want to watch the live video feed, no special software is needed. Web-conferencing and video streaming have been around almost since the start of the Internet, but only recently have small organizations had access to this technology.
"Once again, the Internet is changing the music industry, giving the small local groups a chance to build a large following on their own without signing their life away or building a huge debt", concludes vocalist/guitarist Iver Hillman.
