Mira J. Frohnmayer Recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Vocal Music Studies

Professor Frohnmayer celebrated a 30-year career with Pacific Lutheran University

EUGENE, OR, April 6, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mira Frohnmayer, Professor Emeritus of Vocal Studies at Pacific Lutheran University, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in vocal music studies.

With 26 years of experience as a professor and chair of vocal studies for Pacific Lutheran University, Ms. Frohnmayer taught French diction, Opera, Art Song and Sacred Literature classes and was responsible for supervising 200 students and 12 faculty members. She retired in 2005. Ms. Frohnmayer was also a regarded professional singer for many years. She worked as a singer and professor in New England, Germany, France and the Northwestern United States. She also taught at Loyola University in 2007-2008 and again in the Spring Semester 2011. She attributes her success, first and foremost, to her mother, who inspired her to explore her musical gifts. She is also thankful for all the great mentors and teachers that she has had along the way, and to her personal desire to make a difference in people's lives, Her mother was an excellent musician, always encouraging her children to nurture their innate musical talents. As a result, Ms. Frohnmayer grew up studying piano, viola and voice, and after working with her mentors, followed her heart and chose to pursue a career in music at the University of Oregon, graduating in 1960 as "Most Outstanding Woman in Music".
Ms. Frohnmayer received a master's degree in vocal performance from the New England Conservatory of Music in 1963.

She was the president of the Mu Phi Epsilon chapter at the University of Oregon, and Secretary of Pi Kappa Lambda at NEC. Upon graduation from NEC, she became an adjunct voice instructor at the New England Conservatory of Music and instructor of voice in the Boston College Consortium.

Since retirement, she has served as a board member of the Eugene Symphony and as Chair of the Advisory Council to the School of Music and Dance at the University of Oregon. In 2011, she received the Outstanding Alumna Award from the University of Oregon SOMD. Ms. Frohnmayer continues to teach private lessons and give Master Classes in Voice.
