Dacre Stoker:
Dacre Stoker is the managing partner for the Bram Stoker Estate and co-author of "Dracula the Un-Dead," in stores October 13th, 2009, the sequel to Bram Stoker's original classic "Dracula." Dacre has appeared in numerous venues around the world, giving presentations and discussions on Bram Stoker, "Dracula" and "Dracula the Un-Dead." Dacre was born in Montreal, Canada, August 23, 1958. He attended Bishops College School in Lennoxville, Quebec for high school and St. Lawrence University in Canton NY where he received a BSC in P.E. and Education. Stoker taught P.E., Health and Science at Appleby College in Oakville, Ontario, Canada for ten years. Recently he taught P.E. and Lifeskills at Aiken Preparatory School in Aiken SC. During Dacre's University and Appleby years he was extremely active in participating as an athlete and then coaching the Canadian National team in Modern Pentathlon. As an athlete, Dacre Stoker participated in three World Championships. Unfortunately, due to a political boycott, Dacre missed competing at the 1980 Olympics; however he got to the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, South Korea as a coach of the Canadian men's team. Dacre Stoker is the great grand-nephew of world renowned Dracula author Bram Stoker. Bram's youngest brother, George was his great-grandfather. Dacre's God-father is H.H.G. Dacre Stoker, the Irish commander of AE2, the Australian submarine, whose legendary tactics were instrumental in the battle of Gallipoli.
Ian Holt:
Ian Holt is a writer and Dracula Historian. He is a graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, Ian studied creative writing, dramatic arts and acting with intensive character development and script theory under the late great Stella Adler. Seeking more creative control over his work, Ian left acting behind to pursue a career in screenwriting. A Dracula/Bela Lugosi fan since childhood, Ian acquired the rights to and developed a screenplay for the 1972 best-selling non-fiction book, "IN SEARCH OF DRACULA," by Fulbright Scholars Prof. Raymond McNally and Prof. Radu Florescu (Prince Dracula's descendant) that Francis Ford Coppola used to research his 1992 film, Bram Stoker's Dracula.

WHY:
When Dutton announced the acquisition of DRACULA THE UN-DEAD by Dacre Stoker and Ian Holt (October 13, 2009; $26.95), it became clear that the world was ready for the return of Bram Stoker's Count Dracula. The New York Times declared "Dracula Lives!" and The New York Post's Page Six wrote "Drac is Back!" Simultaneously, hundreds of blogs immediately started posting information on this exciting project. DRACULA THE UN-DEAD is the true sequel to the original classic, bringing Bram's creation back to life for the modern reader. Dacre Stoker, the great-grand nephew of Bram Stoker and Ian Holt, a screenwriter fascinated with Dracula since childhood have delivered an action packed, fast-paced thriller while paying homage to Bram's original characters, and absolute attention to historical accuracy. Writer/Director, Alexander Galant did the historical research for the novel. The authors used Bram's own notes for Dracula including unrealized plot threads and characters, and relying on the insight of the Stoker family members to explore Bram's motivations in writing of this tale, DRACULA THE UN-DEAD.
DRACULA THE-UNDEAD picks up the story of all the surviving characters after the events of Bram's Dracula, picking up in 1912, twenty-five years after Dracula "crumbled into dust." Although they rid the world of "evil" decades ago, the surviving characters have never truly recovered. Jonathan and Mina Harker have their relationship strained to the breaking point. Arthur Holmwood is a bitter man, Ven Helsing is waiting for death, and the once brilliant Dr. Seward is a drug-addicted madman. When Quincey Harker, the son of Jonathan and Mina finds himself on the set of Dracula, a play being directed by Bram Stoker himself, he begins to realize that his parents and their friends have kept many terrifying secrets. As the band of heroes begin to die one by one, Quincey is thrown into the dark past of his parents and is forced to question everything he has ever trusted to be true. Who is behind these attacks? Is Dracula truly the "undead"? Or is there another, far more sinister force at work seeking ultimate revenge?
