IRONTON, OH, April 01, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Modular Security Systems, Inc. of Ironton, OH is doing its part to promote "Green Construction" by re-using shipping containers that have completed their first trip into the U.S. filled with foreign goods. Once these containers are emptied, they are stored in stockpiles around the U.S. that are quickly growing by the thousands. Because of the growing U.S. trade deficit 7 million shipping containers enter domestic ports every year, while only 2.5 million are exported. Modular Security Systems International takes full advantage of the abundance of "one use" containers by converting them into Modular Access Control (MAC) portals which are used to enhance construction site security.

The MAC portal is a mobile building used to control employee access to secure work sites as well as registering data for payroll time and attendance. These recycled turnstile units are equipped with full-height turnstiles and a sophisticated access control system that will allow only authorized persons to enter the site. MAC units can be outfitted with simple proximity card readers or Biometric devices such as Fingerprint readers, Hand Geometry readers, Iris Scanners, or Vascular readers. The units are customized to fit the level of security that is deemed necessary for the site. Many different layouts are available and can be seen at http://www.securedbymac.com/products.

This green turnstile container is then shipped by MSSI to any location worldwide. The environmentally friendly MAC portal is a great example of the re-used of an item that would either become part of a landfill or have to be melted down to be re-use in another manner. Research shows that it takes approximately 8000 kwh of energy to melt down a container, while it can take as little as 400 kwh to convert them into a green turnstile container.

The recycled turnstile container has proven to be more durable and stronger than other materials that are typically used in conventional construction for construction site security.
