Ms. Gerard-Sharp's 36 years as a communications executive in print, television and digital media, began in her hometown of London, England in 1973. She became a familiar name in the industry, however, after moving to the United States in 1975. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and literature, with honors, from the University of Warwick in 1973, Ms. Gerard-Sharp accepted an editing job at the Institution of Chemical Engineers. After redesigning The Chemical Engineer, she graduated to Fleet Street and was hired as the youngest sub-editor of the TV Times. She first made her mark in New York at the United Nations, where she was press officer, then the editor of "Everyone's United Nations" and later the organizer of the IT recommendations for the World Programme of Action on Science and Technology. Ms. Gerard-Sharp joined Time Inc. (later Time Warner) in 1980, and rose rapidly from business manager to Assistant Treasurer, while setting strategy for new media and digital ventures for HBO and ATC, and testing several new technologies and cable services in the company's incubation unit. She was appointed a corporate officer in 1984 but left in 1987 to launch magazines at Capital Cities/ABC (now Disney/ABC) as publishing director. She was also on the board of the USA Network, was a contributing editor to Asia Pacific Forum, and a contributing writer to professional journals, magazines and newspapers. Her educational background includes an MBA in finance, marketing and international business from Columbia University, where she was named Bronfman Fellow, the leading fellowship, twice.

Today, as the president of Monali Media Inc., Ms. Gerard-Sharp manages the private investment company's media acquisitions, partnerships and investments, directs a $50 million-plus portfolio that includes equity, hedge funds, and partnerships, and participates in consulting. She is also the general manager of Wambold Farm LLC and Dandomar LLC, which specialize in farming and real estate. Outside of the office, Ms. Gerard-Sharp is an avid fan of the theater, which dates back to her youth. She is the founding president of the American Friends of the Royal Court Theatre, is a board member of the American Associates of the National Theatre, and is on the executive committee of the Theatre for a New Audience, where she led the $69 million capital campaign to build a theatre for Shakespeare in Brooklyn. Additionally, Ms. Gerard-Sharp funds educational opportunities for the disadvantaged, and has launched scholarships in Jamaica, South Africa, NY and Boston. She was president of Chances for Children and is a panelist for the Paul and Daisy Soros Fellows Foundation, annually selecting recipients of 35 fellowships for outstanding immigrant post graduates. Ms. Gerard-Sharp also serves on the boards of Round Hill Development Corporation and Historic Royal Palaces.
