/24-7PressRelease/ -- As the media coverage for Hurricane Irene increased, so did the planning and preparation at the Mr. John and Russell Reid Companies. As the storm approached, we all started to clearly understand the expected impact Irene would have on the Northeast. In anticipation of supporting the cleanup event, Mr. John staff prepared thousands of portable restrooms for immediate deployment, as well as readied our fleet of vacuum trucks and service vehicles. We also had additional staff who volunteered to be on hand to assist with increased call volume in order to take care of as many customers as possible.
Unfortunately, our phone system and entire network went offline early Saturday morning due to storm related outages. We immediately forwarded calls to cell phones to ensure our customers received an immediate response. Storm related calls began to arrive late Saturday morning and Mr. John was prepared to handle them.
Mr. John Service Technicians did an outstanding job facilitating storm related requests amid the trying circumstances. High winds, torrential rains, downed trees and power lines as well as road closures forced many detours and made for some challenging driving conditions. The perseverance and skill of Mr. John Technicians is a testament to their dedication to serving our customers, no matter what stands in the way.
As a direct result of Hurricane Irene, Mr. John deployed numerous temporary restrooms to power authority substations, FEMA response camps and other storm related emergency sites throughout the region. In addition, the extreme amount of rainfall caused widespread flooding and a significant increase in demand for wastewater pumping, transportation and disposal services for both new and existing customers.
Thanks to a dedicated staff and an effective plan of action, Mr. John was able to respond to our customers' requests despite the numerous challenges presented both during and after Hurricane Irene, once again proving our ability to offer the best emergency response service the industry has to offer.
