KEASBEY, NJ, September 30, 2011
/24-7PressRelease/ -- Ten years have passed since the horrific events of 9/11. At the World Trade Center location, Mr. John has been an ever present sight since that fateful day, assisting those tasked with some of the most difficult responsibilities in American history.
From disaster response and recovery through reconstruction, Mr. John has continued to answer the call for portable restrooms at the World Trade Center site, most recently for the 10th anniversary memorial ceremony which also marked the opening of the National September 11th Memorial. The ceremony was held for family members of the victims and featured readings by President Obama, former President George W. Bush, Mayor Bloomberg, former Mayor Giuliani as well as other dignitaries.
Despite the terror threat, the ceremony brought thousands of relatives together to mourn, remember and pay tribute to the family members who lost their lives that day. To maintain the comfort of the visitors, event organizers required over 50 Standard Mr. John portable toilets with hand sanitizers as well as 12 larger sized Mr. John Ambassador restrooms for special needs attendees.
This special anniversary year brought increased attendees along with very strict security measures. Marianne Sgambati, a Mr. John employee volunteered to valet for the event as she has in the past. "It was very emotional for everyone there," said Marianne. "Seeing the children who never met their fathers, those who were children at the time and are now young adults with their own families, all of the people who suffered such a great loss, knowing the pain is as bad now as it was that day, hearing the stories and the words of remembrance from the families..."
Mr. John was honored to serve several other ceremonies that day, including the dedication of the Empty Sky Memorial at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, NJ. This memorial pays tribute to the 746 New Jersey residents killed in the Sept. 11th attacks.
During the dedication, David Samson, chairman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said the weekend marks "another step in the healing process from the pain inflicted 10 years ago.''
Marianne Sgambati summed up the day's events on behalf of Mr. John; "There was such a sense of pride to be an American. It can be a very rough day emotionally, but I am always very honored to be able to take part."
