/24-7PressRelease/ - ATLANTA, GA, June 21, 2008 - Meredith Boyd, Mrs. Georgia International 2008 will be the featured celebrity guest speaker at the Arthritis Foundation Golf Classic on Monday, June 23rd at Peachtree Golf Club in Atlanta, Ga. The event is to support the Arthritis Foundation, an effort to raise funds and awareness to fight arthritis, one of the nation's leading causes of disability. A fun filled day of golf, contests, silent auction and an awards ceremony will serve as an inspirational day for all participants.
Boyd is an official spokesperson, carrying a message of hope for the nearly 1.7 million Georgians - including 9,200 children - living with arthritis. As the reigning Mrs. Georgia International, Meredith Boyd has adopted arthritis awareness as her official platform and plans to help the Arthritis Foundation, Georgia Chapter increase public awareness and to bring widespread attention to arthritis and the many people it affects.
Boyd was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at the age of 15. Her mission is to help raise funds and awareness for children, teens and young adults with childhood rheumatic diseases.
"At the age of 15, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and as a survivor of arthritis, I am honored to share my story at this special event," Boyd said. "The Arthritis Foundation mission is to improve lives through leadership in the prevention, control and cure of arthritis and related diseases. I want to support that mission and be a voice for children who have arthritis and let them know they are not alone."
