PORTLAND, OR, September 02, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- www.MrsP.com, the popular, award-winning kids' entertainment site, announced today that from September 1 through October 15, 2010, MrsP.com is accepting stories written by children 4 to 13 years old for its second annual "Be A Famous Writer" contest.

The judges this year are themselves some of the world's most famous writers: #1 best-selling author Meg Cabot ("The Princess Diaries"); Jim Davis, creator of Garfield, the most popular cartoon strip in the world; and Danny Kallis, creator of the Disney Channel's "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody" and "The Suite Life on Deck", television's top-rated shows for kids.

Two grand-prize winners will have their stories read by Mrs. P (sitcom star Kathy Kinney) in videos featuring original illustrations and produced by a Hollywood production team. The videos will be posted for viewing by a global audience at the website and on iTunes. Each winner will also receive a bound copy of the illustrated story, as well as gift certificates to Powell's Books (www.Powells.com), the largest independent bookseller in the world and the official sponsor of the writing contest.

Stories submitted for the contest may cover any topic, fiction or nonfiction, and should be between 250 and 1,000
words.

"I'm proud that my website exposes kids to some of the best stories ever written, but I'd also like to encourage kids to create their own stories," said Kinney, who before Mrs. P was best known as Mimi on "The Drew Carey Show". "Encouraging creativity when kids are young helps them to become more successful and fulfilled for the rest of their lives. If Mrs. P can play even a small part in that, she'll be a very happy redhead."

MrsP.com is the recipient of The National Parenting Center 2009 Seal of Approval and is an American Library Association "Great Website for Kids". The Professor Garfield Foundation learning portal, www.professorgarfield.org, recently added www.MrsP.com to its interactive online environment where children can safely explore, learn and creatively express themselves.

MrsP.com is a children's entertainment site that celebrates reading and books. Starring TV star Kathy Kinney as Mrs. P.
