Multi-Platinum Recording Artist Dawn Richard Finds Heart of Gold with "Goldenheart" Album

New age R&B singer/songwriter gears up to release first of trilogy series this fall.

LOS ANGELES, CA, September 17, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Coming off the heels of her critically acclaimed #1 EP, Armor On, singer/songwriter, Dawn Richard has announced the release of her debut LP, Goldenheart. The 12-track LP marks the solo debut from the New Age R&B singer, introducing fans and newcomers alike to the first of a three part series of love, loss and redemption. The album will be released on October 16, 2012 featuring production from longtime collaborator and Grammy nominated producer Andrew "Druski" Scott (Trinitee 5:7, Michelle Williams, Keyshia Cole, Omarion), The Fisticuffs (Miguel, Jhene Aiko) and Deonte (Will.I.Am, Chris Brown, Lloyd).

Richard has found a pot of gold the unconventional way in today's everchanging music industry. Competing for a coveted spot in what would be multi-platinum recording group Danity Kane on national television in Sean "Diddy" Combs' Making The Band reality TV series to transitioning into a Hip-Hop group with Diddy Dirty-Money, Richard has managed to not fall victim of most "here today, gone tomorrow" stars. In Spring of 2012, Richard announced her decision to part ways from Bad Boy with Diddy's blessing to pursue a solo career and plans to release an EP, Armor On.

"There were a lot of doubters after I announced my decision to leave Bad Boy," says Richard. "But I'm a survivor. I'm a fighter. I have a story that needs to be told not only for me, but for those out there that are like me."

On March 27, 2012, Richard released Armor On exclusively on iTunes and within three hours, the EP landed in the #1 spot on the iTunes R&B/Soul Charts and debuted on the Billboard Charts at the #4 spot on the Heatseeker Charts, #15 on the Independent Charts and #28 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Charts respectively. Alex Macpherson of the UK Guardian gave the EP 4 out of 5 stars calling it "...impeccable throughout." Ptichfork.com gave the EP 8.5 out of 10 calling Richard "one to watch" and placing her as one of the leaders of New Age R&B.

"No label. No budget. No features and we managed to go #1 which is rare in today's R&B climate," says Richard. "There were five people involved in making this album happen. We are taking the 'Do-It-Yourself' motto to a whole other level and it's exciting. Goldenheart will be no different. The 'hearts' [fans] are speaking in numbers. This is our time."

"Goldenheart is going to be a life changing album," proclaims Grammy nominated producer/songwriter Druski. "It's exciting that we are changing the mold of R&B, how it sounds, how it looks and how it is distributed. You don't see this kind of movement in Urban music, especially on the Independent level. She's done it once, I know she'll do it again."

Recently, Dawn has released several videos from her successful EP including the Eugene Lee Yang (Marina & The Diamonds) directed "Faith". The singer dropped a buzz single from the Goldenheart project titled "Pretty Wicked Things" which MTV Buzzworthy helmed as their "Song of the Week" and "...the most sophisticated song from a member of Danity Kane." Currently, her videos including "Bombs" and "Automatic" can be seen on BET, MTV Jams, MTV Base (Africa), MTV UK and MTV2 and Armor On EP is available for purchase on iTunes. The first official single from Goldenheart is titled, "'86" and will be available on iTunes September 26th.
