NAFA on Track towards a Record Number of CAFM Exams

/24-7PressRelease/ - Princeton, NJ, September 12, 2008 - With over a month left before the registration deadline, NAFA is poised to have a record number of participants take the CAFM exams on October 20. Fleet management professionals will aim to achieve the industry's most respected certification designation through exams held in over 22 different states plus four locations in Canada.

NAFA Fleet Management Association has long been well respected for its educational programs. The Association offers the most popular and significant fleet management certification, the Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) program. Established more than two decades ago as the Certified Fleet Management program with the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business and now administered solely by NAFA, the CAFM program was designed to identify and recognize exceptional fleet management professionals. It is the oldest, most esteemed fleet certification program, and the only fully accredited program; graduates receive 12 fully transferable college credits through Ferris State University.

"The NAFA CAFM program is the only certification program that proves an individual's expertise in fleet," said Phillip E. Russo, CAE, NAFA's Executive Director. "Other certification programs may attest that a person has minimum basic knowledge of fleet, but the NAFA CAFM program proves the person is an expert."

In addition to ensuring that the person has a comprehensive knowledge of fleet management, the CAFM program requires an ongoing five year recertification cycle which makes it the most comprehensive certification program.

NAFA understands the time constraints that fleet managers face each day and has designed the CAFM program to be as accommodating as possible. In addition to scheduling CAFM exams alongside major NAFA events such as the annual Institute & Expo and Board of Governors meetings, participants may also take the exam locally. If a local exam is desired, NAFA will seek out available testing facilities in the candidate's area and arrange for a proctor to be on site to monitor the exam.

For years, one valuable resource for CAFM participants has been the Fleet Management Seminar (FMS). The FMS was designed for fleet managers who were either just starting out or those with five years or less experience. The FMS provides comprehensive education involving the fundamental principles and practices of successful fleet management. Program topics include Policies & Procedures, Fleet Organization & Responsibility, Acquisition & Disposal, Maintenance Management, and Risk Management. Based on the success of the FMS and with the CAFM student in mind, NAFA will debut an Advanced FMS in New Orleans this October that focuses on the eight core disciplines of fleet management (Asset Management, Business Management, Financial Management, Fleet Information Management, Maintenance Management, Risk Management, Vehicle Fuel Management, and Professional Development).

The NAFA CAFM program has more than tripled its number of participants in less than two years and is quickly heading towards having 1,000 active participants in the program. Visit http://www.nafa.org/cafm for more information on the CAFM program.
