In 2000, Ms. Anderson became the founder and chief executive officer of The Brittany Foundation in Agua Dulce, California, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, care, and placement of homeless dogs.

Born in Minneapolis to Robert V. and Kathleen M. Anderson, Ms. Anderson studied at the Cardinal Stritch College in Milwaukee and earned a BS in psychology from George Washington University. She served for ten years with the General Accounting Office in Washington as a trainer and career consultant. Concurrently, Ms. Anderson joined the office's Equal Employment Opportunity advisory council and chaired the women's advisory board to the comptroller general's office of the U.S. It was a role that landed Ms. Anderson a 1977 Equal Employment Opportunity Award from the Comptroller General and the 1978 and 1979 Certificates of Merit from the General Accounting Office.

In 1980, Ms. Anderson went on to start Nancy K. Anderson and Associates in Denver, Colorado, where she represented the firm as principal consultant from 1980 to 1983. She received an MPA from the University of Colorado in 1982. Ms. Anderson went on to a position as a manager of development with Anderson Clayton Foods in Dallas for two years before becoming a training and development manager with Anchor Hocking in Lancaster, Ohio. In 1987, she became principal at NAW Career Associates in Canoga Park, California, and in 1989, she joined Sebastian International as manager of sales operations.

Ms. Anderson returned to consultancy as principal of Nancy K. Anderson and Associates in Woodland Hills, California, where she served the community for five years. From 1996 to 2000, she became a senior performance development specialist with HealthNet, and in 2000, she became CEO of the Brittany Foundation. She has been presented with a 1984 award from the American Society of Training and Development, and has supported the International Society of Performance and Instruction. Ms. Anderson served from 1984 to 1986 with the board of directors for the Prestonwood Green Condo Association.

For many years dedication to providing career development and to her role as a nonprofit organizer, Ms. Anderson was welcomed for inclusion in four volumes of Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America, as well as the 2001 volume of Who's Who in America, the 2001 volume of Who's Who in the World, the 1986 to 1987 volume of Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and the 2006 to 2007 volume of Who's Who of American Women.

Since moving on from her position as a development specialist, Ms. Anderson has proven as adept at placing animals as she has humans. The Brittany Foundation runs a no-kill facility that hosts regular adoption events.
