Andrew's mother described the entrapment she felt when her son was in the throes of addiction: "Once I learned my son was addicted I worried every single minute of every of every hour, every single day. I constantly expected that a policeman would arrive to my door telling me that my son had died from an overdose. Some of his friends had overdosed and I felt it was only a matter of time before it happened to Andrew. The severity of the situation came to light when Andrew did overdose. Fortunately, he was at home and his father saved his life. It was then that I knew I had to do something and I found

"Now, the freedom that I feel is incredible. I wake up every morning happy that I don't have to worry about my son anymore. I have my son back!"
For 12 years Brent's father was caught up in his son's addiction. He had already lost his wife to addiction and came close to losing his son. "The whole family was trapped by Brent. When Brent came home, I would be scared that something would come up missing. Everyone in the family had to lock up their medicines and money. I finally had to put him in a trailer from my home to keep him from stealing stuff.
"The most trapped I felt was when the phone would ring at midnight. I always knew it was something about my son - he was always getting arrested and I worried that I would get a call that he was dead. For years if I wanted to see him I would have to visit him in a jail or prison.
"Since Brent graduated from Narconon
drug rehab two years ago I have the freedom to call him or see him on a regular basis. I don't have to wait and try to call the county court house or jail at a certain time of the week. I can let him in the house without being worried. That is a real freedom.
"It is great to see him plan for the future, rather than living hour by hour. He is doing things on his own, which is more freedom for me. I don't have to constantly worry about what I am going to have to pay for him. "
