SAFETY HARBOR, FL, August 06, 2009
/24-7PressRelease/ -- In an area where the unemployment rate is more than 75% and over 10,000 homeless children are living in the streets, the country of Haiti is in need of aid. Recognizing the necessity of the problem, one group that recently contributed to help children in the country is
Narconon.
Narconon is a successful drug education and rehabilitation program that also contributes to other non-profit and humanitarian efforts. A recent project that Narconon is assisting with includes helping to provide food and support to impoverished areas all over the world.
Narconon's most recent project, The Global Pioneers' Haitian "Adopt an Orphanage" group, lets people contribute directly to designated orphanages in Haiti. The idea being that the people can pick and choose from items the orphanage needs most and send it out with no middlemen. The current campaign is designed to get private food donations being sent to 20 orphanages in Haiti. These shipments will help feed more than 2,000 children of all ages. Once this is underway, other orphanages will be added. The products most needed to help the children include powdered milk, canned meats, rice, beans, oats, flour, multi-vitamins, oil and cheese.
Yvonne Rodgers, the Executive Director for Narconon centers in the Eastern U.S. is a contributing member of the project and has recently donated many needed items through
Narconon to help the orphans in the country. "Whether it is teaching kids to read in our summer reading programs, hosting parenting programs, volunteering at the fire department, donating books to schools and libraries or stuffing Christmas stockings for less fortunate families, we felt like we were doing our part" she says "But once we were briefed on the average life of kids in Haiti, we knew that we had to get into action and do something to help."
Narconon's global community efforts are part of its purpose to help make the world a better place. The drug rehabilitation program has helped many thousands of individuals and families throughout the world successfully recover from addiction as well as educated millions more about the truth about drugs.
